Darwen, Lancashire-based Bus Electrical is busy with a number of refurbishment projects on nearly new vehicles involving retrofitting USB charging points and LED lighting. Bus Electrical’s Adam Fairclough says that operators are keen to enhance the interiors of their vehicles with USB charging points being a key tool in helping to encourage passengers to choose the bus. “Fitting USB charging points is really helping to get more people on the bus,” he says. The unit cost of USB charging points has come down in recent times, although there is a fair amount of labour involved in retrofitting them to buses.
In addition to the seat charging points, replacing lighting with LED systems can give a bus a much more modern feel inside, says Fairclough, pointing out that operators can also benefit from the greater efficiency of LED lights and the fact that bulbs don’t have to be replaced as often.
The refurbishment work carried out by Bus Electrical is in addition to its other services which include diagnostics, auto electrical installations and CCTV repair and maintenance.
